Why you can't sit down to eat without making a statement

Analogy- Scott Canon uses a great analogy when quoting Kate Van Ummersen when she speaking about organic flowers, "'Why should I care? I don't eat flowers,'" she said. "They just weren't willing to pay a premium for organic flowers." This is an analogy because she is comparing flowers to what people are eating which is a little out there but people don't eat flowers very much.

Overstatement- "Go organic if you want, says others, but big-scale farming feeds the world." This is an overstatement because this isn't exactly something that you can prove, because the majority of people who live in rural areas are almost completely self sufficient. This is a fact that you can't prove at all but it is true that it feeds the majority of the urban population of the world.

Rhetorical Question- "They want to know: How convenient is it? Will it fit into their family's budget? Will their kids even eat it?" The author is using this to portray the struggles that parents have when trying to buy any kind of food without even thinking of the implications that those who see what they are buying can and will think about it. It shows that the author truly knows that this is a big deal in the area.
