7-B The Globalized Village
Carli White and Gabe Machen
He has a great hook through detailed description of the state of the road. Brings you in and makes you wonder what is next. Laments the ancient and majestic trees that have been removed to make way for the new road. The loss of the trees makes the village hotter and the climate more difficult for life especially in the dry period before the monsoon season. Reasoning is sound as he makes comparisons between quality of life before and after. The large shopping centers and grocery stores are now there but those that enter the village realize that they aren't being used. Assumes in his writing that the villagers don't want or need it and doesn't address the useful aspects of the industrialization. Hyundai is taking up resources and selling cars that are out of budget for most residents. Brings in humor when he states that although there is no water everything will be ok when everyone has a hyundai.
